Yuba County New Home Information
Yuba County is located in the Central Valley, north of Sacramento, along the Feather River. The county has a total area of 644 square miles and lies along the western slope of the Sierra Nevada, the steep slopes making it prime territory for the site of hydroelectric power plants.
New home communities are located in a portion of the county, where Marysville (the county seat) and most of the population lives, west of the mountains on the valley floor. There is a great deal of agriculture business in this part of the county, especially fruit orchards, rice fields, and cattle grazing.
Yuba County is California's gateway to the historic Mother Lode Country, with a diverse landscape that boasts grand rivers and thriving farmland. At the heart of the county is historic Marysville, bordered by the Yuba and Feather Rivers. To the south and east of Marysville, are a variety of new home communities including Plumas Lake—with numerous local events, active theater and arts groups, social and service clubs and year round festivals and fairs. The Sleep Train Amphitheatre is a state-of-the-art center for outdoor concerts, and the Yuba-Sutter Gold Sox, a minor league baseball team, makes its home in Marysville. Golf courses include Peach Tree County Club and Plumas Lake Golf Course.
The foothills of Yuba County offer new home residents an abundance of recreational activities including boating, camping, and fishing. It's just a short drive to Bullards Bar Dam and Reservoir, Collins Lake, Lake Francis and over 25,000 acres of wildlife area that includes National Forest Land. And it's only a short walk or drive from downtown Marysville to Riverfront Park, where residents will find boating, picnicking, several soccer fields and motocross tracks.
Yuba County also enjoys five excellent school districts and is home for Yuba Community College, which offers opportunities for higher education. For those seeking an advanced degree, California State Universities at Chico and Sacramento and the University of California at Davis are all less than an hour away.
