Colusa County New Home Information
Colusa County and its new home neighborhoods are located in the Central Valley, northwest of Sacramento. The county's population is just a little over 21,300 (as of 2007) with 46.5% of its residents Hispanic. The county has a total area of 1,156 square miles of which, 1,151 square miles is land and only six square miles is water. A large number of streams drain the county including Elk Creek and Salt Creek.
The county's eastern boundary is formed, in part, by the Sacramento River. The county includes a number of nationally protected areas: Colusa National Wildlife Refuge, Delevan National Wildlife Refuge, and part of both Mendocino National Forest and the Sacramento National Wildlife Refuge. Forestry and fishing are the region's major employers.
Colusa County and its new home residents attend four Unified School Districts: Colusa, Maxwell, Pierce Joint and Williams with 16 schools including five elementary, four middle schools and seven high schools.
