Stanislaus County New Home Information


Stanislaus County part of the Modesto metro area is located in the Central Valley between Stockton and Fresno spanning 1,515 square miles. As the price of housing has increased in the San Francisco Bay Area, many new home residents who work in the southern reaches of the Bay Area have opted for the longer commute and moved to Stanislaus County for the relatively new home neighborhoods. As of January 1, 2008 the county's population is estimated at over 560,000 and ranks the fourth fastest growing in the state.

The Stanislaus River Valley averages just 12 inches of rainfall each year and experiences a full spectrum of the seasons. Temperatures range from an average low of 38 degrees F in the winter, to an average high of 85 degrees F during the spring and fall, to an average high in the 90's during the summer months.

Agriculture is Stanislaus County's number two industry for its community residents, with wine grapes being the primary agricultural product. Of the nation's counties Stanislaus ranks number one in production of peaches; 6th in production of tomatoes and 8th in production of poultry. The other top industry is manufacturing which includes 13% of the county's jobs.

Stanislaus County is located in the northern San Joaquin Valley, a comfortable 90-minute drive to San Francisco and an hour from the beautiful Sierra Nevada Mountains.

Stanislaus County has a variety of cultural and sporting events to offer its new home residents as well as music, art, festivals, off roading, golf, river rafting, boating, fishing, camping and much more.

Stanislaus County has 27 school districts. Colleges in Stanislaus County include California State University – Stanislaus and Modesto Junior College.
