Sutter County New Home Information
Sutter County is located along the Sacramento River in the Central Valley, north of the state capital Sacramento. Sutter County and its new home residents are strategically located in the Capitol Region's Northern Corridor. There are two incorporated cities in Sutter County. They are the City of Yuba City and the City of Live Oak. There are several unincorporated "rural communities." They are Meridian, Nicolaus, East Nicolaus, Rio Oso, Robbins, Sutter and Trowbridge.
The county has a total area of 609 square miles and is home to the Sutter Buttes, known as the "World's Smallest Mountain Range." This volcanic formation provides relief to the otherwise seemingly flat Sacramento Valley. Nationally protected areas include Butte Sink National Wildlife Refuge and Sutter National Wildlife Refuge.
Sutter County's rich history in the early days of California has provided the area with a number of museums, historic landmarks, and historic districts. Sutter County's rivers, lakes, mountains, year-round festivals and fairs, entertainment, diverse recreation opportunities, community events, fine dining establishments, first-rate lodging, bikeways, and historic downtown shopping provides Sutter County new home communities a fun environment. Sutter County also offers some of the best duck hunting in the country, as well as opportunities for camping, hiking, boating, fishing, and white water rafting.
